Mycket gott skick. Skyddsomslag i mycket gott skick. SANCTUARY, published in 1931, was William Faulkner´s best-selling novel during his lifetime. Its harrowing narrative recounts the nightmarish experiences that befall Temple Drake, the troubled 17-year-old daugther of a Mississippi judge, at the hand of Popeye, on of the authors most memorable – and monstrous – creations. Faulkner claimed to have written SANCTUARY for the money (an assertion disputed by his friends) after the disappointing sales of ”The Sound and The Fury” and ”As I Lay Dying”. The years after the books publication he wrote: ”I began to think of books in terms of possible money… I took a little time out, and speculated what a person in Mississippi would believe to be current trends, chose what I thought was the right answer and invented the most horrific tale I could imagine”
