Häftad bok.
Mycket gott skick. [Format: 13,5 x 21,5 cm.] The University of Chicago Press (Phoenix edition), Chicago 1982. 332 pages. The book contains a few black and white illustrations. Translated from Italian by Peter Astbury. Original title: "Materia e Antimateria". --- Condition is near mint, or atleast very good. --- Synopsis: The Nature of Matter is a history of theoretical physics. Its author, a distinguished popular writer on scientific subjects, is the wife of one of Italy's leading physicists, a former colleague of Enrico Fermi. Her book was highly praised in its original Italian Edition, Materia e Antimateria (1961). Writing primarily for the cultivated general reader without an understanding of advanced mathematics, Ginestra Amaldi clearly describes the fundamentals of atomic theory, the structure of the atom and the molecule, radioactivity both natural and artificial and the conquest of nuclear energy. She also discusses the recently discovered "elementary particles," not part of ordinary matter but the result of high energy interactions.
