This particular book is a catalogue in Danish from the 1991 Eric Fischl exhibition at the arhus kunstmuseum, Louisiana museum for moderne kunst in Humlebæk, Denmark. The catalogue is not translated but that most assuredly is not a reason for not collecting this book. The variety of works by Fischl up to that time in his career is vast and the reproductions are extremely fine.
An entire section is devoted to the multiple canvases held together in different planes that fascinated Fischl over a long period of time. They plead for installation rather than for individual owner ship and this book lets us see why. Entire walls may be devoted to one extended painting and the result is a walk around inside view of Fischl's fine craftsmanship. The book features many of his voyeuristic paintings and studies of relationships form seemingly mute participants - a true comment on the manner in which people relate today. Included in this well-curated exhibition are many of Fischl's beach scenes, nighttime interiors, drawings and spacious explorations of peopleless spaces. Yes, many of the paintings reproduced here are in subsequent books in the Fischl growing library of publications, but seeing them gathered together within a time frame before the 1990s and beyond influences happened is a treat in itself. Very worthwhile volume." Grady Harp. –– GLÖM INTE ATT TITTA PÅ ALLA MINA ANDRA BÖCKER! –– Samma fraktpris oavsett hur många böcker du beställer! (Gäller inom Sverige)
