Chs. Darwin's Lehre von der Entstehung der Arten im Pflanzen- und Thierreich in ihrer Anwendung auf die Schüpsungsgeschichte dargestellt und erläutert von Dr. Fridr. Rolle : Mit holzschnitten
Inbunden bok.
Gott skick. [Text in gothic script.] Frankfurt am Main 1863 (first edition), Joh. Christ. Hermann'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung. (8) 274 pages in a half-cloth with decorated boards and all edges sprinkled blue. Illustrated with 20 wood-cuts in text. 3 owner's signatures on flyleaf, of which 2 are struck through. On the flyleaf there are also, beneath all signatures, a stamp: "Maxwell Overton. Geogr. Inst. Lund.". Overton was a character from Lund, Sweden, widely known in various circles. The reason for this was his discoveries in the field of geography and his somewhat odd behaviour at times (among other things, perhaps). --- The book shows regular shelf-wear and scuffing to covers. The spine looks unevenly faded, but the color variation is more likely from wear or soiling. Spine ends and corners are bumped. Initial pages have a damp stain on the "inside corner" (around the foot of the spine) which decreases in strength and is barely noticable from page 10. The stain never reaches the text block. A few pages in the beginning, and a few in the end, are age-darkened with very light foxing. The rest of the contents are very well preserved; clean, fairly bright and with hardly any foxing at all.
